Opened in 1949, Pilgrim Haven is the original community of American Baptist Homes of the West (ABHOW), a trusted nonprofit provider of quality retirement housing and health care services. As an expression of its Judeo-Christian mission, ABHOW seeks to enhance the well-being and security of seniors through the provision of housing, health care, and supportive services.
Today, ABHOW operates 11 continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and 18 affordable housing communities. CCRCs provide residents the continuity of a flexible, independent lifestyle while offering the security of health care. The ABHOW Foundation helps these communities by providing financial support to residents who require assistance.
Our nonsectarian retirement community is located in the heart of beautiful Los Altos. Gracious living is supported by an outstanding, caring, responsive staff. Pilgrim Haven is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission, an independent agency sponsored by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. This seal of approval assures residents and their families that our community meets national standards for quality care.
Pilgrim Haven considers its 16-member Board of Advisors one of its treasures. These esteemed and experienced community leaders contribute a wealth of connections in our town and region as they work to expand our resources.
Pilgrim Haven has a special history of friendliness and extended community. A real feeling of fellowship can be found here, where "everyone knows everyone." Now that we've been providing service for 56 years, some of our residents are second generation.
Staff longevity also speaks to the quality of our community. A number of our caring, dedicated staff have been with us for more than 20 years -- because to them, Pilgrim Haven is home.
